Riverside's Government Guide
This thread will cover the introduction to becoming a government official, common knowledge and information about all the departments.

1) Joining the force
If you're interested in roleplaying as a police officer, your first step is to go on the Police Cadet job. You will need to wait for a trainer, and in your time you can advert for a trainer by the following command:
/advert I need a trainer
It may take longer than expected, but you will eventually be trained. When you are being trained, make sure you listen closely and fully understand what the trainer is saying, if you don't understand you can always ask the trainer to explain in more detail for what you don't understand.

The Cadet Training takes around 20-25 minutes usually, so make sure you have enough time for the training. After the Cadet Training, if you have passed you will be asked to join the "Metropolitan Police" discord. Make sure you fill out a rank request and stay in this discord, otherwise your whitelist will be removed. Then, you will be whitelisted to Community Support Officer, which is the first of many ranks in this department. For you to have the ability to join the other police departments, you will have to reach the rank of Sergeant to be able to attend these tryouts.

2) Information about departments
Metropolitan Police
Specialist Firearms Command
National Crime Agency
Sub-departments
The Metropolitan Police is the force that deals with pursuits, general response to calls, assistance with firearms etc. This is the main department that you must stay in to qualify for the other departments.

The National Crime Agency is the force that deals with narcotics, drugs & is an undercover establishment that embeds themselves in the seriousness of Organised Crime, to catch criminals whenever they can. The department is also specialised in protecting the Prime Minister & Deputy Prime Minister.

Within each department, there will be sub-departments for each of them. For example, the Metropolitan Police have a Dispatch sub-department, which handles the usage of the radio. You can enquire more about sub-departments by contacting the appropriate officer.

3) FAQ

How do I work my way through the ranks?
Officers can be promoted by showing great work ethics, brilliant attitude and conduct and impressing the higher-ups in the department that they are in.

Which department should I join?
It depends on what you are interested in, if you're interested in responding to firearms incidents, you should join SC019, however if you'd like a bit of everything you could stay in PD and work your way up. If you're interested in protecting someone, and cracking down on organised crime & drugs, well NCA is just for you!

How many departments can I be in?
You can be in as many as you like, however I would not recommend you joining them all, otherwise you will be limited on the activity you can contribute to the department, which may lead to a demotion.

When I join a department, what should I do?
In each department, there will be a set of documents that rule the guidelines you must follow on the department. It is essential for you to read these documents, otherwise you may be punished for breaching guidelines you didn't even know where in place.

What should I do if I see someone breaking the rules set out by the department?
If you ever witness an officer breaking the guidelines set out by the department, you should report them to the higher-up of the officer. If you witness a high rank breaking the guidelines, you may report them to the Professional Standards Department.

What is the Professional Standards Department?
PSD is the department that deal with higher-ups and serious reports. They have specialised officers that investigate reports to conclude whether there was any misconduct, punishments will normally be issued if there was any sign of misconduct.

4) Punishments
You should understand that there are punishments in place for anybody that doesn't follow the guidelines, these are the following:
PunishmentExplanation
Strike 1General misconduct.
Strike 2General misconduct, can be stacked from a Strike 1.
Strike 3General misconduct which leads to a demotion & 2 strikes. Can be stacked from a Strike 2.
Demotion to .....Serious offence.
BlacklistExtreme offence committed which leads to a blacklist from the department. (You are not allowed to join the department for a set time).
SuspensionYou can be suspended for an investigation to conclude, if this is necessary.
